Papale’s unlikely and inspirational tale of trying out for the Eagles and making the team in 1976 at the age of 30 was turned into a movie in 2006. Papale was at Pocono Raceway on Saturday wearing a Red Bull shirt and pulling for Vickers to win his first Cup race of the season.
Papale has toured the Red Bull facility and spoke to the team before the Daytona 500.
“I’ve sort of been like their mascot,” Papale said. “They’re the nicest guys in the world. It’s really a tremendous fraternity.”
