Tim Alderson
Examiner reported that the Giants did seem to pay a decent price for Garko in the form of lefty Scott Barnes, rated the team’s No. 9 prospect by Baseball America. The 22-year-old Barnes pitched for Class A San Jose this season where he went 12-3 with a 2.85 ERA. With Tim Alderson and Madison Bumgarner on the fast track, there might not be room for Barnes, which caused him to become a trade chip.

Alderson was one of the Giants’ best prospects, a first-round pick in the 2007 draft.
Given how good a prospect Pittsburgh is getting, the presumption is that the Pirates are sending the Giants some money to cover the $2 million or so left on Sanchez’s contract this season. He has a vesting option for ’10.

Fantastic as usual, keep up the great work!
